Did you know that the name Roskhill has Nordic roots?

It is thought to be derived from the Old Norse "Hross" and "Gil", meaning "Horse Gully".

There is indeed a gully across the road from the guest house. It has a river with a waterfall, which provides a soothing soundtrack all year round.

There is, however, no evidence of horses.
