We love the chairs in our dining room - they are from the A.I series which was revealed during the Furniture Fair in Milan in 2019.

The A.I. series is the fruit of the collaboration between artificial intelligence and human intelligence, termed by Philippe Starck as "Natural Intelligence". It is artificial intelligence’s response to a brief developed by and input received from creator Starck and the company Kartell:

"How can you support our body with the least amount of material and energy possible?"

According to Starck, "The A.I Chair is the first chair designed outside of our brain, outside of our habits of thought. Generative design is a design exploration technology that allows designers and engineers to input their design goals, along with parameters such as materials, manufacturing methods, and cost constraints. The software then explores all the possible permutations of a solution, quickly generating design alternatives. It tests and learns from each iteration what works and what doesn't".

We chose them for Roskhill House as they for use 100% recycled materials, have strong eco credentials and are really comfortable (this must have been a key parameter).

We chose the metallic grey version as the colour echoes those of the tree trunks and lichens found around here. The shapes reminded us of deer antlers - the closest we'll ever get to displaying a stag's head at Roskhill House!
