We wanted to add a piece of ceramic art to each of the otherwise very crisp and minimalist bathrooms here at Roskhill House.

We commissioned Stuart at Edinbane Pottery to make a series of ceramic pictures or plaques which reflect the colours, textures and feeling of the local landscapes. We are very pleased with the results, which are strong reminders of the place we live.

Edinbane Pottery are a family of pottery specialists working in both wood fired and salt glazed pottery. The pottery was founded in 1971 by Stuart Wheatley and his late father. In the early 80’s Stuart built both a wood-fired and a salt glaze kiln, enabling him to add to his repertoire many of the ceramic finishes and glaze effects that are at the heart of much of the Pottery’s work today.
“Our high quality handmade ceramics are both modern and functional. We draw heavily on the influences of living and working in the stunningly beautiful Isle of Skye and the surrounding Islands. Our ceramics reflect the colours and textures of the sea, the landscape and wildlife and the feelings they inspire. Inspiration, innovation and creativity combine to produce a number of unique ranges of work. Within these ranges each item will be a little different, with results varying from firing to firing.”

The pottery is open most days throughout the Spring and Summer. Visit their website for more information.
